Ever Galvez

Ever Galvez

Being raised in the colorful surroundings and enriched culture of Mexico sparked my curiosities and opened up my creativity at a young age. Starting at the age of 5, I spent much of my childhood imagining characters and sculpting them out of clay. That part of my life is one of my first and fondest experiences leading into the creative world.

Years later and a big move to the States, I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts at California State University, Fullerton, in 2009 with an emphasis in Entertainment Arts Animation and Illustration. I studied with great teachers who inspired me to work hard and continue to be creative in all areas of art throughout life. It was never enough just to make art for the sake of making art. My desire was to be able to help my community and others through being an artist.

This began before CSUF, while I was attending Fullerton Community College, where I received my Associates in Arts degree in 2001. There, I was very fortunate for being introduced to one professor who made the difference in my student and professional life. Javier Alvarez, a fine Artist himself and art professor guided me and taught me the fundamentals of painting, sculpting, and to be visually creative and follow my heart in the arts. He introduced me to the world of Street Painting back in 2003. As his student and assistant, I was able to learn the classical techniques of using chalk on asphalt and that same year I was brave enough to enter the Fun with Chalk Festival in Mission Viejo to do a chalk mural on my own. Since then I've been doing street painting nationally and internationally. The mission of these festivals is to help those whose lives are in need, especially our children. From that moment, I realized the power of helping the community through the arts will be my path. Some chalk festivals and workshops to name a few: Sarasota International Chalk Festival (FL), Segerstrom Center for the Arts (CA), Palo Alto Chalk Festival (CA), Houston Via Colori for the Hearing Impaired (TX), ClearWater (FL), Ana Maria Island (FL), Bakersfield Via Arte (CA), ArtSplash in Carlsbad (CA), Prescott Chalk Festival (AZ), and Twenty Nine Palms Chalk Festival (CA), among others.

This year I am excited to be part of the 21st annual street painting festival at Lake Worth, Florida 2015!!!
